If you haven't heard about Operation Mind Control before, then I
recommend you look at the article below. This isn't new information;
the History Channel documentary is based on material that has been
available for some time. The mind-control project was seeking to
understand how to control the mind of an individual, using a
combination of potent drugs and post-hypnotic suggestions. The
objective was to program people to carry out missions, perhaps
involving assassination or suicide -- just like in the "Manchurian
Candidate".
What some people don't understand is why this mind-control research
project came to an end. It was not because they decided it was
immoral and illegal, but because mind-control was leaving the
research stage and becoming an operational program. Since that time,
in many parts of the world, there have been bizarre events, the likes
of which we had never seen before. Ex-soldiers who massacre children
in the school yard and then kill themselves; teenagers who massacre
their fellow students and then kill themselves, etc. How many of
these events were projects of this operational mind-control program?
How many of these events were followed by new legislation giving more
powers to the police? How many accomplished objectives in terms of
creating fear or hatred in populations?
Another thing many people don't realize is that mind-control research
did not stop, but was shifted to a more potent and dangerous domain:
mind-control of groups rather than individuals -- the creation and
management of cults. Peoples Temple & Reverend Jim Jones, Waco &
David Koresh, these and others were CIA research projects. A
charismatic would-be cult leader was identified, his group was
infiltrated by CIA operatives, and then the group was protected from
police interference while the experiment was being carried out. When
the research was complete -- or when exposure was threatened -- the
evidence was destroyed. The cult-member research subjects were
poisoned or incinerated en masse, along with the cult leader. Dead
men (and women and children) tell no tales.
This cult-management project also moved from the research stage to
the operational stage. One example of this technology in operation
can be seen in Iran. When the Shah could no longer be maintained,
Washington engineered the placement of the Ayatollah as the new head
of Iran, forcing Islamic fundamentalism -- a large-scale cult --
onto the people of Iran. Ever since then the US has been able to
demonize Iran and bide its time until another fascist like the Shah
could be installed (what is now called 'regime change').
The Taliban, and the whole Jihad movement, are also cult movements
created by the CIA, and used ever since (either by their actions or
as fall guys) to further the development of empire. But perhaps the
most important of the operational mind-control projects is the
Christian fundamentalist resurgence in the US. The lessons learned by
watching the techniques of folks like Koresh and Jones are now being
applied via radio talk shows and pulpits. Bush, besides playing the
role of 'President' for the cameras, also acts as primary cult
'leader' (not to be confused with actual cult management, of which he
would be incapable).
One of the primary characteristics of every cult is some set of
radical beliefs that clearly separate members from non-members. In
the case of today's Christian-fundamentalist cult, those beliefs now
include:
- the Bible is the literal word of God
- there is no distinction between abortion and infanticide
- gays are a sinful menace to society
- evolution is a liberal-created myth
- humanism is a Satanic plot (Savonarola rides again!)
The existence of such 'radical defining beliefs' creates a nearly
insurmountable communication barrier between cult members and
outsiders. Cult members have their own private worldview, and to
them outsiders just "don't get it": they are beyond the pale of
understanding anything. All contrary information from the outside is
rejected, because it comes from 'deluded people'. Members are thereby
forced to rely on the cult for their ideas, beliefs, and for much of
their social support.
Once this ideological barrier is established, isolating cult members
from the rest of society, it then becomes relatively easy to lead the
cult members by the nose to wherever the cult managers want to take
them. As the cult's defining beliefs become more and more outrageous,
members must either go along or else they will be out in the cold,
back in the world they have been programmed to reject and fear. The
power of this mechanism was demonstrated in Waco, where people were
manipulated into accepting pedophile behavior, and in the Peoples
Temple, where many drank their suicide kool aid voluntarily. (The
rest were shot by a CIA cleanup team.)
The cult member becomes like a patient hooked to a drip tube. Just as
the doctor can slip arbitrary drugs into the patient's drip, so cult
managers can slip any desired beliefs into the member's mind. In the
case of Christian fundamentalists, this becomes a very powerful
political tool, particularly as the cult grows in size. In terms of
elections, this tool helped bring us the Red states, Bush country.
The tool gives the cult managers direct control over a growing
segment of public opinion, whether it be about the war in Iraq,
attitudes toward Israel, support for an attack on Iran, or whatever.
