More nonsense from Al Gore

Richard Moore

“The solutions to the climate crisis are the very same solutions that will address our economic and national security crises as well,” he said. “The plan’s unprecedented and critical investments in four key areas – energy efficiency, renewables, a unified national energy grid and the move to clean cars – represent an important down payment.” – Al Gore

These are not solutions to the climate crisis, nor is this an agenda that moves us toward economic or environmental sustainability. Rather they are attempts to keep the unsustainable growth paradigm going while pretending to be ‘doing something about the environment’. “Climate crisis” has become a vehicle for distracting our attention from much more pressing problems, and from the broader environmental picture.

Renewable energy sounds good, but what it mostly means is biofuels, and they are a very bad idea from every point of view. They have a bigger life-cycle carbon footprint than petroleum, in many cases they take more energy to produce than they deliver, they often use a great deal of non-renewable petroleum in the tractors, fertilizers, and pesticides, and – worst of all – they greatly increase global food prices and global starvation.
Gore is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
